It’s that time of the year again, the time when we say that anything goes in terms of both word count and subject! Our theme-free big bang issue is the best way to close out the year with romance, drama, and special sexy times — sometimes at epic length.

We’ve had some big developments this year at SSBB, from moving the stories entirely to our WordPress-run site, to creating a Smashwords page with most of our back catalog available for download as free ebooks. We’re looking to expand our ebook offerings even more, writers who’d like their stories available for download as a single collection should let us know, and we’ll be happy to work those up.

Naturally, we’re always looking to the future, and as such, we’ve got our list of 2018 Themes all worked up and ready to go for next year. Specific deadlines and release dates will be forthcoming in the next few weeks, but you can get the general idea from this preliminary calendar. It’s never too early to start thinking of good ideas!

If you’re feeling the holiday spirit and want to do something simple to brighten someone’s day, try this: Pick a story or artwork you liked from one of the issues we ran this year and take a moment to leave a comment letting the creator(s) know you appreciated their hard work. It doesn’t have to be complicated; even a simple “I really liked this” shows you care. You can even leave comments anonymously! Think of it as being a Secret Santa, with the added bonus of knowing that your encouragement now may produce more things you like in the future.

Finally, we’d like to extend a great big thank-you to all the artists, authors, beta-readers, writing buddies, ebook compilers, commenters, cheerleaders, and other assorted heroes who’ve helped make our 2017 a year full of smutty romantic delights. Please keep spreading the word, and we hope to find our hearts and pages both twice as full next year!

Enjoy the holidays,
your editors
